Recaps :

(by Mike Gastonguay) - The NHL All-Star Games have always been a treat to a hockey fan. This is the place where all the greats are celebrated, From Howe to Jagr, Orr to Kariya, Gretzky, Bourque & Messier to Roman Turek and Scott Gomez. The Heroes had their game and let the ice to the NHL Players. It was then that the World All-Stars captured their third consecutive Skills Championship! The next day, it was time for the 60 Minute battle between the games best. Before the game, Wayne Gretzky's #99 was retired throughout the league. The first period was an action-packed battle featuring smooth, fluid play and some scoring by the World All-Stars. The Northerners kept the game close ending the period 3-2. Both Roman Turek and Curtis Joesph played very well on the opposite creases. Tommy Salo was the dominant goalie in period two. Martin Broduer plaed well towards the later part of the period but was beat early by the Super Bure Bros. Pavel scored twice with assists from brother, Valeri, for the only World goals in the second. This scoring helped set a base for the World All-Stars, a base that Pavel and the team would build upon with four more goals on Mike Richter including Pavel's third goal. The North Americaners were kept off the summary sheet for the thrid period. The World All-Stars won the game and to the vicotrs, the spoils and to Pavel Bure, a new Dodge! Good Game, Good Night!
